It also improves the quality of traffic, therefore it is important to optimise your webpage.

1. Keywords

It is a cornerstone strategy for every business but not everyone can leverage the benefit of simple yet powerful strategy of keyword optimization.

It is important to select right set of keywords that are appropriate for your audience. The focus has now shifted to “long tail keywords”. The long-tail keyword phrases are 4-5 words in total length.

Meta Description is a short summary that is visible below the URL of search engine results page.

It should describe the content on that page and should summarise the topic. The users will skim through the headline and meta description in a few seconds and decide wether they want to read the content.

Therefore it is important to have a powerful meta description. It should also contain relevant keywords for eg: “traffic” is an important keyword for my blog post therefore I made sure I include traffic in meta description.

The description should be under 300 words to ensure that it is visible completely in the search results

3. Alt text

ALT text (alternative text) are HTML codes used to define the Image on your website. These tags provide better description of your image to crawlers while indexing your webpage.

Ignore keyword stuffing while defining your image. Your description should be an accurate version of your image

It is an opportunity to add relevant keywords and increase searchability of the web page. Title tag should be unique, descriptive and under 60 characters in length

Google actually prefers sites that are SSL enabled. It makes the site more crawable and increases the chances visibility.

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is more important than ever as it increases trustworthiness, Security and Visibility of the website.

6. URL Structure

A URL structure is an important part of the webpage as it allows search engine to crawl page to page.  A structured URL makes navigation easy for the users and also tells them the path of the page.

The URL’s should contain the keywords that reflect the page’s subject. Easy to understand URL not only increases the chances of clicks but also creates trustworthiness of the same

7. Internal Linking

Internal linking makes it easy for the users to navigate to different pages as well as helps the crawlers to index your page. We usually tend to see that the blogs linked internally, which also helps in higher clicks. They are usually linked as recommendation blogs.

Every page on your site should have links which will redirect them to either their subcategory or Home page.

The performance of page is an important factor considered while optimising your search engine.

The load time of your page should be lesser than the average . If your website takes long time to load, chances are that the users may get frustrated and leave the webpage thus increasing the bounce rate of your website

Also such websites don’t load properly on the mobile which will intern lower the rank in SERP’s. Therefore it is recommended to use compressed image size as reduced redirects will also do the trick. You should consider improving the mobile responsiveness of your website as majority of the people use mobile phones to browse.

It denotes to any action taken outside the website to create links that redirect to our own website.
